It is a challenge ❗️ This is an English-based activity. There are a few Japanese speaking staff, but the guides for the activities are basically in English. But, well, we'll figure it out. I think it's more important to experience it.

Gorgeous scenery and information about the land, ancestry, and movies filmed there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Jake was our guide and he was wonderful. He was excellent with the horses and shared a great deal of knowledge about the area as we rode. He was easy and interesting to talk to, making you feel comfortable while having fun!

Wonderful Guides and Beautiful Views! One of the best tours on our trip to Hawaii! The guides were so knowledgeable of the area and their horses! They even took pictures for you and went out of their way to show where the movies like Jurassic park were filmed! I really appreciated Lilia for all of her wonderful recommendations and for making this excursion memorable!

Enjoyable family trip We really enjoyed this outing. Our guide Lea was friendly, informative and excellent with the horses. The scenery is beautiful and the pace was slow and easy. The horses had personalities but were well trained and gentle. Practical info: do arrive at least 45 minutes in advance. You need to wait in line to register van if you have pre-booked and paid. Only small items that can fit in a saddlebag are allowed. There are lockers to store backpacks for $5 per day. Wear long trousers and closed toe shoes. Be prepared to be weighed with your saddlebag.

"Saddle Up for an Unforgettable Journey Through Kualoa Ranch" If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable experience on Oʻahu, the horseback riding tour at Kualoa Ranch is a must — and having Malia as our guide made it even more incredible. From the moment we arrived, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with lush green valleys, towering mountains, and sweeping ocean views. What really set this tour apart was how Malia wove the rich cultural and historical significance of Kualoa Ranch into the ride. We learned about the Ranch’s history, from its days as a cattle ranch established in the 1850s to its present role preserving and protecting these beautiful lands. Malia’s knowledge and passion for Hawaiian culture added depth and meaning to the experience. As a local resident, I found this experience so memorable and meaningful. The horses are gentle, making the ride enjoyable even for beginners. We moved at a relaxed pace, which gave us time to soak in the incredible surroundings — including some iconic sites used in famous movies and TV shows.Overall, the Kualoa Ranch horseback ride with Malia was not just an adventure — it was a journey through history, culture, and the natural beauty of Hawaiʻi. I can’t recommend it highly enough! After your tour, grab a bite in the Ranch cafe for burgers and shrimp raised on the Ranch! The food was amazing and prices very reasonable!

Horses are treated as money makers, nothing more. The only positive aspect I can give on my tour is the care that our tourguide gave to not only us but the horses. It was really a disheartening experience to see the horses when we arrived. They looked exhausted when the day barely started. Furthermore, the horses seemed to have galls on them which shows that the saddles are improperly fitted on the horses. Several horses in my group were lethargic, kept stopping every 10-30 seconds and eyes were very droopy. I also stayed longer onsite and saw that one of our horses went on another "tour" scheduled 1 hour later. Objectively speaking, based on the demeanor of the horses, this shows that there are not accommodations that should be in place for the horses (e.g., break days, rotate out the horses between tours). The horses are essentially treated as money makers, only focused on quantity of what they can provide to establishment and not quality of care they need in turn. My recommendations for management to put in place to remediate these issues:Rotate out the horses between days and not have them scheduled on multiple tours a dayGive them "break" off days since it seems like several of them (in just my group alone) were lethargicEnsure that the saddles are properly fitted on them since they are present with galls

Birthday ruined- Extremely disappointed I visited Kualoa Ranch during my birthday weekend, and unfortunately, it ended up being a really disappointing experience. I had booked an activity that I was genuinely excited for and even weighed myself beforehand to make sure I met the weight requirements. When I arrived, their scale showed I was just a few pounds over, so I wasn’t allowed to participate—which I understood. Safety is important, and I wasn’t asking to go on the tour against policy. What I did ask for was a refund for something I physically wasn’t allowed to do. I explained the situation, shared that I had already weighed myself in advance, and mentioned it was my birthday weekend. Instead of issuing a refund, they offered to switch me to another tour—but I had already done a tour the day before. I politely declined and reiterated that I simply wanted my money back for the unused booking. They still refused to give a refund, even though I received nothing in return. No alternative that made sense, no partial credit, just a firm “no.” I wasn’t being difficult—I just didn’t think it was fair to be charged for something I couldn’t participate in.It really ruined part of what was supposed to be a special weekend. I left feeling dismissed and frustrated, not because I couldn’t do the activity, but because they had zero flexibility or compassion in how they handled the situation. I expected better from a place that advertises itself as a top destination. I wouldn’t recommend Kualoa Ranch to others based on how this was handled.

Just a nope Would give 0 stars if I could. Not only are their signs two different heights but the ladies working are some of the most miserable people I've ever met. Saddle sores on the horses, yanking on their faces, horses with clear anxiety faces. Would not recommend AT ALL. Do the UTV tour instead.

The best time with Lea, Snickers and Trooper!! Kualoa offers so many cool tours and it was difficult to pick one. We went with the horseback walking tour since it was a first for both myself and my boyfriend and we couldn't be happier! Our guide Lea was so knowledgeable and friendly, and we really enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature at the ranch. The horses are extremely well trained and need little to no guidance during the tour.
